Job Description
The Office of Crown Solicitor provides expert commercial law services to the State of Tasmania, its instrumentalities and agencies. The Crown Solicitor leads the Office and is one of four Principals within Crown Law, including the Solicitor-General, State Litigator and the Director of Public Prosecutions.
Leading and managing a team of more than 30 staff and supported by the Director Crown Law, the Crown Solicitor is responsible for the delivery of high-quality advice, negotiation and drafting of agreements in a range of commercial, property and leasing transactions, major infrastructure and construction projects, financing, procurement and intellectual property matters. The Crown Solicitor reports to the Secretary of the Department of Justice and acts independently in matters of professional judgment.
