Job Summary
The Medical Credentialer is responsible for coordinating, monitoring, and maintaining credentialing and re-credentialing of healthcare providers to ensure compliance with regulatory, accreditation, and payer requirements. This role ensures providers are properly credentialed with hospitals, insurance plans, and government programs so they can deliver patient care without interruption.
Key Responsibilities
Prepare, submit, and track initial and re-credentialing applications for providers (MDs, DOs, NPs, PAs, etc.)
Verify provider credentials including education, training, licensure, certifications, work history, and malpractice coverage
Maintain accurate and up-to-date provider files in credentialing databases and systems
Communicate with providers, insurance payers, hospitals, and regulatory agencies to resolve credentialing issues
Monitor credentialing expirables (licenses, DEA, board certification, malpractice, etc.) and ensure timely renewals
