This Project is not about implementation. It's only about defining the concept
We operate a self-managed Microsoft SQL Server 2022 instance (≈130 GB database) running on Amazon EC2 (AWS). This database serves as our primary production system and handles transactional workloads.
We require a continuously synchronized secondary copy of this database in Google Cloud, hosted on Cloud SQL for SQL Server.
Objective
The purpose of this mirrored database is:
• To offload reporting workloads
• To handle read-heavy analytical queries
• To serve API requests that should not impact the primary production database
• To reduce performance pressure on the source system
The mirrored database will function as a read-only reporting replica.
Requirements
• The solution must provide continuous, automated synchronization.
• Acceptable replication lag: up to 20 minutes (RPO ≤ 20 minutes).
• Asynchronous replication is acceptable.
