Responsibilities

The Saskatchewan Coroners Service (SCS) is responsible for the investigation of sudden, unexpected, and unnatural deaths in the province. The coroner answers the who, how, when, where, and means of the deceased’s death and assesses prevention aspects. The coroner serves a radius of approximately 80‑100 km, works on an as‑needed basis, and is paid on a fee‑for‑service basis. The role requires handling investigations at any time, including nights, weekends, and statutory holidays.

Qualifications

  • Proficient in using a computer and computer applications.
  • Must be a Saskatchewan resident.
  • Must possess a valid driver’s licence and reliable vehicle.
  • Subject to a criminal record check.
  • Will attend a five‑day training course provided by the SCS before commencing duties.
