Job Description
CNC Programmer – Engineering Technologist
Key Responsibilities
CAD/CAM & Modeling
Create fully featured solids from 2D data (DWG/DXF, prints) with correct datums, fillets/chamfers, draft, and thickness.
Convert Parasolid/STEP files into native Smart solids (e.g., SolidWorks part files), healing geometry, fixing feature trees, and validating tolerances.
Own model/print revision control
CNC Programming (2.5D Focus)
Program drilling, tapping, reaming, boring, pocketing, contours, chamfers, spot/peck cycles, and surface facing.
Configure work offsets, tool lengths, probe cycles (if applicable), and safe retract planes; verify code via backplot/simulation.
Apply best-practice toolpath strategies by material (MS, aluminum, 4140, P20), including adaptive roughing, stepdowns/stepovers, HEM, and chip evacuation.
