The Biosafety Officer (BSO) oversees biosafety and biosecurity practices, ensuring compliance with the Canadian Human Pathogen and Toxins Act (HPTA), its Regulations (HPTR), and Sanofi Biosafety standards. Acts as the primary contact with the Public Health Agency of Canada (PHAC) and manages risks associated with all activities involving biohazardous materials in laboratory and manufacturing settings.

Key Responsibilities

• Promote and monitor compliance with HPTR and related regulations.
• Manage the onsite biosafety and biosecurity program.
• Conduct biosafety and biosecurity risk assessments.
• Advise on biosafety and biosecurity technical matters in accordance with HPTA, HPTR, Canadian Biosafety Standard (CBS), and Sanofi global standard.
