Responsibilities
+ Perform blood draws, label specimens, and centrifuge specimens.
+ Record maintenance data, perform decontamination, and update patient information.
+ Collect and store specimens according to established procedures.
+ Clearly explain the venipuncture and specimen collection processes to patients.
+ Demonstrate techniques using straight and/or butterfly needles.
+ Understand and execute all physicians' orders.
+ Match laboratory requisition forms to specimen tubes; label, centrifuge, split, and freeze specimens as needed.
