Backhoe Operator/Mechanic

Job Description

• Safely operate backhoes to dig, trench, backfill, grade, and lift materials.
• Perform daily pre- and post-operation checks (checking oil, fluids, tires) to ensure the machinery is in good working order.
• Adhere strictly to safety regulations (OSHA), utilizing personal protective equipment and ensuring the safety of nearby workers.
• Load and unload gravel, dirt, and construction debris.
• Assist with site setup, including reading blueprints or staking marks to determine excavation depth and location.
• Promptly report any equipment malfunctions, damage, or needed repairs to supervisors.

Qualifications

• Proven experience as a backhoe operator or in a similar heavy equipment role.
• Valid driver’s license and, if required, heavy equipment operator certification.
• Proficiency in operating hydraulic controls and understanding machine limitations.
