Assistant Professor of Biology - Animal Physiology

Position Overview

The Biology Department at Carleton College seeks a tenure‑track position in Animal Physiology beginning September1, 2027. The appointment will be at the Assistant Professor level.

The successful candidate will demonstrate a strong commitment to teaching and research with undergraduate students in a liberal arts environment and to inclusive excellence.

Responsibilities

• Develop and teach five courses per year in the trimester system (including Human Physiology and Lab and BIOL126, Intro to Energy Flow in Biological Systems).
• Lead an active research program involving Carleton undergraduates.
• Create an upper‑level seminar aligned with the candidate’s expertise and research strengths.

Qualifications

• Completed Ph.D. in biology or a related field with postdoctoral experience preferred; Ph.D. candidates who will finish by June2027 will also be considered.
