The Opportunity:
The Access and Privacy Compliance Officer is responsible for ensuring the municipality meets all obligations under applicable privacy and access legislation, including the Access to Information Act (ATIA) Protection of Privacy Act (POPA). This role provides expert advice, oversees privacy risk management, and leads the development and implementation of access and privacy policies, procedures, and training.
• Serve as the municipality’s ATIA and POPA Coordinator and primary contact for privacy matters.
• Administer major access to information requests, including intake, review, redaction, and response preparation.
• Conduct privacy impact assessments (PIAs) and advise departments on privacy risks and mitigation strategies.
• Develop and maintain privacy policies, procedures, and provide feedback on retention schedules.
